(Bromsgrove)
For the first time ever we’re starting Carnival on a Friday, and its going to be a gig night, enjoy a true British summer night with live bands. Line up here
Saturday is Carnival day, the Parade starts at noon from Bromsgrove Artrix and snakes through Bromsgrove to Sanders park. Join the Parade or be on the route to cheer us past.
Currently 31 groups have signed up to join the parade, and they’ll be taking a shopping trolley and creating something amazing.
Saturday 18 June
Sanders Park will be open from 10.00 and free parking will allow visitors to pick out the best spot for the midday parade and any flashes of entertainment that mob the High Street. Leaving the Artrix at 12.00 the Parade will samba through town centre toward Sanders Park for 13.30, line the streets and enjoy the Carnival vibe that celebrates the diversity of Bromsgrove.
Parade winners will be announced before 14.00 and the live music, dance and theatre runs until late in the evening. The bandstand arena will have a huge variety of entertainment to engage with like learning to play an instrument, dancing, exercising and even speaking Italian! Should any families need more free activities then Creation Station will absorb you in arts and crafts.
The main stage will feature local bands like MLE, Skabucks, The Cape of Good Hope, Soloists like Howard James Kenny and musical theatre from All and Sundry. The full line is here
Local groups joining the fun in the Park include the MG owners club with a display of over 25 MG cars, Bromsgrove Astronomical society, Bromsgrove Lions, Bromsgrove Round Table, Transition Town Bromsgrove and over 20 more.
The Carnival duck race and Hospital balloon release will give a chance to win cash prizes on top of all the tombola’s, bottle stalls and the chance to win a Mini.
Timberhonger 10k registration opens from 16.00 but please register now to avoid disappointment. The Children’s Challenge starts at 17.30 and the 10k starts at 18.00 so it will be much cooler for the hundreds of runners.
Sunday 19 June
Registration for a huge charity Zumbathon opens at 10.00 and fully trained local instructors will power you through 2 hours of exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin beats starting at 10.30, just as the Council’s High-5 program starts to promote the best local sports clubs and groups for children. Visitors will enjoy live street and belly dance, Zumba, salsa, bhangra and our favourite wrestlers. For those families who want to get even more creative then Creation Station will be leading free arts and crafts activities.
